The course will look at how soil and rock slopes fail and the analysis and design of slopes to prevent future failures.
Worked examples are provided throughout the course, along with an introduction to the philosophy of EC7 design. The mathematics in the worked examples given throughout the course is deliberately uncomplicated in order to aid learners with a basic understanding of the physics of the problem of slope stability.
How soil and rock slopes fail
Shear strength parameters of soils
The tests to determine the shear strength of soils
An introduction to the philosophy of EC7 design
Rock Slope instability
SPECIALIST GEOTECHNICAL TRAINING PROVIDED TO OVER 1000 GEOTECHNICAL MANAGERS, TECHNICIANS, ENGINEERS AND DRILLERS SINCE 2014
At the end of the course the delegates should be able to:
Understand how soil and rock slopes fail and the resulting damage
Understand the philosophy behind EC7 design
Have a basic understanding of the analysis and design of slopes in soils and rocks
BESPOKE, SPECIALIST TRAINING FACILITIES FOR GEOTECHNICAL COURSES
