This CPD certified course will comprise a series of training courses provided by leading UK experts which will provide the backbone of knowledge to underpin the understanding of effective ground investigations.
This will provide a unique training and learning development experience for those in the early development of their geotechnical / geoenvironmental career. The principle aim of the training will be to engage with the future practitioners of our industry, share knowledge and provide an opportunity for discussion.
Places can either be booked for the entire week, or on each course individually with prices starting from £150 + VAT per day. Check each course listing for it's individual price.

INDUSTRY EXPERTS:
SPECIALIST GEOTECHNICAL TRAINING PROVIDED TO OVER 1000 GEOTECHNICAL MANAGERS, TECHNICIANS, ENGINEERS AND DRILLERS SINCE 2014
The first day will look at how a good specification is key to an effective ground investigation.
We will consider the aims of the investigation, planning the work, the Standards and the choice of equipment and techniques.
The day will look at the stages of a well planned and executed ground investigation, the benefits of a collaborative approach and why the understanding of the ground risk for each project should drive the data required.
The course provides an industry focussed health, safety and environmental course related to the typical activities likely to be encountered on a geotechnical site or ground investigation and the hazards associated with those activities.
The day will cover both the theory and practice of various field (In situ) testing techniques used on typical geotechnical projects and ground investigations.
Field (In situ) testing is an essential part of a well-planned and integrated ground investigation as it is arguably the best method for obtaining true geotechnical parameters.
Individual tests will be considered in the context of the British Standards and related to typical geotechnical parameters required for design as well as their advantages and limitations with regard to ground conditions and geology.
This course will also include a demonstration of CPT in action.
This day comprises an appreciation of the processes involved in Instrumentation and Monitoring in the geotechnical field environment.
The course provides an overview of the current guidance documents and their requirements.
We will discuss the essential geotechnical field instrumentation specified to monitor groundwater, pore pressures, slope stability and settlement.
We will consider the design of both individual installations and the installation of suites of instruments in the wider site context. We will also discuss the methods and techniques for the installation process.
The course will also examine the monitoring process to enable instrument checks and performance and validation of the data from ground investigation through construction to assessing serviceability of structures.
The day comprises an overview of geotechnical laboratory testing from sampling through scheduling to reviewing the test data.
The course aims to provide the delegate with information of why particular tests are chosen, what the results should look like and where they are used in geotechnical design practice.
The course provides guidance on scheduling of samples with respect to the sample types, quality and sizes required to enable compliant geotechnical laboratory testing to be carried out in accordance with the current British Standards.
The influence of sample quality, sampling methods, transportation and storage will be considered with respect to the parameters which may be obtained and affected by poor practice.
